Merry Christmas from the Sydney Amiga User Group! – this month we had a huge turnout with a lot of members bringing along their Commodore and retro computing projects.
First up Geoff was busy desoldering some ICs from a C64 motherboard, just one of the many services the group provides to its members.
We had a few special guests this month from SAUG member Jordan in the form of a Commodore PET 2001 from Japan which looks like is suffering from some issues with its RAM – otherwise it is in immaculate condition! also brought along was a Toshiba J-3100 portable with an ultra-rare gas plasma screen.
We also had the pleasure of seeing a SX-64 in the flesh thanks to Steve, who is a virtuoso at C64 projects such as using a C64 to play a guitar via servo motors. It’s definitely worth checking out his YouTube channel called Smitties Projects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9JClx–cbU
Heath brought along his A590 to check if it was still working. Thankfully only the drive is bust – everything else including the DMAC chip and 2mb FAST RAM were working perfectly.
Ross also was able to upgrade a PSU for Owen to use with his C64.
We hope you enjoyed this months report – the group will be meeting again in February. More details including meeting dates for 2019 will be posted on the website shortly.
